At the moment of writing this review, Netcam Studio is still in BETA and features might change or still be added in the future. The free version can be used for personal use. The restrictions are: 4 sources limit, the Netcam Studio watermark appearing over the video (recordings and streams) and limited Technical Support. The INSTAR HD line was already included at the but caused some problems - that will hopefully be erased in the final release. But please test the free version first before considering buying the full version.
Add a New Camera
Netcam Studio consists of 2 parts - the server that manages the cameras in the background and a client user interface that allows you to interact with the server. Beside the local access there is also the possibility of a remote management as well as a mobile app to control your cameras. Please always start the server software first from the link on your desktop. The server address is 127.0.0.1 if you installed the server on the same PC as the client software. Otherwise you can define the local IP address of your camera management server. Then login with the client interface (the second link on your desktop). The default login is user name = admin and the password = 1234.
Once in the user interface, click on Add Source and choose your camera model, type in your camera´s IP address and the login credentials. Click on Test Connection to verify your input.
On Screen Functions
Hovering over the camera´s live video gives you access to a couple of neat functions (small menu on the bottom of the video frame) that are not described in detail here. Please check the official website for more information on the following features:
To use the Email notification in case of an alarm please define your SMTP server here. For a list of common SMTP servers please go to HERE.
